What to prepare

Make sure you have a maternity kit at home and provide a raised bed and a bedpan.
Prepare a bag for you and the baby. Also think about toiletries, a camera, (charger for) the phone. Include a copy of the birth plan and your chart in the bag.
Car seat for the return journey: the baby should be in a car seat and not on your arms in the car.
Transport to and from hospital must be arranged by yourself.
Only in case of an emergency can the midwife call an ambulance to take you to the hospital.
If you do not have a car, ask family and friends or call a taxi
Arrange a babysitter for the older children. Especially if you have to go to hospital quickly, it is nice if someone can be there quickly
