Our Care
We congratulate you warmly on your pregnancy. We are here to support you during this special and exciting time. Read on to find out more about our approach.
Step 1: If you are pregnant: Choose a midwife practice from the teams that is near you and which suits you. Sign up there for the intake and obstetric care. Even if you already know that you will be under the control of a gynaecologist during your pregnancy, please still register for the intake at a midwife practice.
Step 2: The intake: Around the 8th week of pregnancy, you will have your first appointment with the midwife. We will discuss a questionnaire about your medical history and about hereditary diseases in your family. We also discuss the possibility of screening during pregnancy. If necessary, the midwife will gather additional information about your health and draw up the care plan for your pregnancy together with you. After a consultation with midwife and gynaecologist, this care plan is finalised.
A care plan for your pregnancy is a kind of schedule of check-ups and tests that will be carried out during your pregnancy.
There is a Basic Care Plan, which applies to all expectant mothers, but it will be adapted for your pregnancy if necessary. We take into account your health and that of your partner and your family and the course of previous pregnancies. Sometimes it is necessary to conduct additional ultrasounds or blood tests.
Step 3: The midwife discusses the care plan with you during your second check-up. During a healthy pregnancy, you will see the midwife for all of your check-ups. If there are any complications, you will be referred to the gynaecologist. Care may also be shared. If you are monitored by the gynaecologist throughout your pregnancy, you will see the midwife again in the postpartum period.
